Contrast for the Win
I took the week off any major tile project to catch up on my desk job and volunteer at my kids' school. I spent the week squeezing in as many work hours as possible on the computer. By the end of the week I felt a physical NEED to work on a project.
It's only been just over a year since I tiled our bathroom. When I did, I used a grout additive to prevent staining and sealed the grout carefully. I also used white grout. On a bathroom floor. With a preschool aged son. You get where I'm going with this?
I also didn't love the shade of white. The bathroom has bright white subway tile on the walls with a bluish white in the Paloma Encaustic floor tiles. If I were to do the project again, I would use different grout colors on the walls and floor. The good news? Innovations in grout stain allow me to make a change without breaking out the power tools.
I've been loving Mapei products lately, so it was an easy decision to go with Mapei's Grout Refresh in Black for the floor. I'll have to see how it holds up over time before recommending it to a client. In the meantime, I definitely love the black with this tile.
